Gallery 8-2 - Just Wonderful Art

At Quail Lane Studios, although we are based in Arizona, we travel the world. Much of our finest work has nothing to do with either the Southwest or flowers and plants. Sometimes a shot is too irresistible to be ignored, and sometimes the process of digitography places the work in a category well beyond our initial vision. These works are in Gallery 8. What makes the bird in Australia, or the volcano in the Pacific so special? Look closely. Be sure and check our other galleries too; they overlap a little.

Golden Days ▲

Golden Days© shows a broad grassy field within Arizona’s pronghorn refuge. A few old settler cabins remain, their tin roofs and weathered boards reflecting the surrounding fields and sky. The colors here are quite real. arising from an unusual day of brilliant sun peeking through a thick, fast-blowing, lenticular overcast. Edition size: 49 small; 39 large; artist: Sherry Shamroth.

Loafing ▲

Loafing©. This pond in Maui certainly seems as though it would be an ideal place to loaf if we were frogs. Still, the thought also occurs: Maybe our little green friend is hard at work, and hopes to snag a delicious dragon fly for lunch. Edition size: 89 small; 9 large; artist: Sherry Shamroth.

On the Coast©. Imagine yourself somewhere along a storybook coastline. This is the one of your childhood dreams. It comes complete with old castles, startling ornate cathedrals and terracotta rooftops, with narrow winding pathways in place of streets. Now add a little fog to make it more mysterious. Close your eyes and dream. We won’t tell you if this one really exists. Edition size: 29 small; 19 large; artist: Laurie Larwood.

Sharing a Secret ►

Sharing a secret©. Don’t be surprised to see a red slider in a little stream bed. Every steam seems to have them. And of course shaded streams are a cool refuge for birds. We don’t usually see a curious turtle discussing the day’s events with a visiting bird however. We guess these two are long-term friends, perhaps sharing the secrets of their different world perspectives. Edition size: 39 small; 29 large; artist: Laurie Larwood.

Shopping Day in Old Town© shows a portion of the Alfama district of Lisbon. A grocer has just put out his baskets, and the first customers are starting to walk up the narrow cobblestone street.
