8-1 - Just Wonderful Art

At Quail Lane Studios, although we are based in Arizona, we travel the world. Much of our finest work has nothing to do with either the Southwest or flowers and plants. Sometimes a shot is too irresistible to be ignored, and sometimes the process of digitography places the work in a category well beyond our initial vision. These works are in Gallery 8. What makes a bird in Australia, or the volcano in the Pacific so special? Look closely. Be sure and check our other galleries too; they overlap a little.
For your convenience, we've placed only a few images on each page of this gallery. When you are ready, go to page 2 or 3 of this Gallery, or use the tags at the top to view other galleries on our site and place your order.

◄ Above It All
Above It All© is a bird’s eye view of the world. Imagine the freedom of flying in any direction you please from that perch high atop a weathered tree. The tree itself juts out from the rim of the volcanic Crater Lake in Oregon, one of North America’s highest and deepest lakes. Because of its length, Above It All is available only in large (unframed) sizes. See Prices and Availability for details of large sizes. Edition size: 11 large; artist: Laurie Larwood.

◄ Ancient Wisdom
Ancient Wisdom© may be contained in these petroglyphs in the Southwestern US desert. Who made them; what do they mean? The two banded geckos seem to be sharing secret information based on their own analysis. Edition size: 39 small; 19 large; artist: Laurie Larwood.

◄ Bashful
Bashful©. There’s little more that needs to be said about this picture. The bird is clearly interested in the flowers. But it seems to be trying to hide its intentions. Although getting close, it is looking away. Perhaps the bird is nervous that the flowers might refuse its amorous advance. A little later, the bird nestled the flowers a little more closely. Edition size: 39 small; 11 large; artist: Laurie Larwood.

◄ Capistrano
Capistrano© is one of California’s best preserved old Spanish missions. Looking here, from a small courtyard, you can see one of the original mission bells that called the settlers and Indians to services, and a chapel cross comforting them. Part of the old brick is exposed in the adobe wall. The cactus seems likely to be of more recent origin. Edition size: 39 small; 34 large; artist: Sherry Shamroth.

Desert Blooms ►
Desert Blooms© is a spring Sonoran Desert scene, with the orange ocotillo (and dove), fiery prickly pear, pink trichocereus and yellow-flowered palo verdes all blooming simultaneously. The cholla and giant saguaro are yet to bloom. The scene is Tucson area, but we won’t tell you exactly where. This is where we go for renewal on a sunny spring day. Edition size: 39 small; 24 large; artist: Sherry Shamroth.
