5-2 - At the Water's Edge
Much as we love the deserts and the mountains, we also feel irresistibly attracted to water. The water's edge is exciting, producing an ever-changing discontinuity between textures and forms. Lighting changes as we near water, and the reflections, sounds, and rhythmic crashing of waves all blend into subconscious pleasure. In this gallery we pay tribute to the excitement, pleasure and romance of the water's edge. It suggests something eternal in our nature, and yet evokes immediate pleasure. You will find most ocean, lake and river scenes here. In every case, the scenes are real, very real, and it is the art of digitography that has brought them alive. Be sure and check our other galleries as well; they overlap a little.
For your convenience, we've placed only a few images on each page of this gallery. When you are ready, go to page 1 in this Gallery, or use the tags at the top to view other galleries on our site and place your order.

Through the Bridge ►
Through the Bridge© flows a little stream slowly making its way off Arizona’s Mogollon Rim. Here, it has cut a natural bridge through a mountainside, forming a glistening pool before making its decent. Meanwhile, a second stream drops off the mountainside to join its bigger brother. Edition size: 39 small; 24 large; artist: Sherry Shamroth.

◄ Time for a Drink
Time for a Drink© depicts a small group of open range horses found on the Tohono O’odham Nation land south of Casa Grande, Arizona. The horses have been resting in a bosque near one of the nation’s small villages, and they’ve been awaiting the tiny bit of desert rainfall that seems to fill this usually dry wash. It is a refreshing scene and we wanted to join them. Edition size: 49 small; 29 large; artist: Sherry Shamroth.

◄ Up by the Canyon
Up by the Canyon©. When full, Oak Creek Canyon at Arizona’s Slide Rock State Park features a rushing rivulet running bank to bank as it cuts through millions of years of rusty red cliffs. At other times, the picturesque stream becomes friendly and approachable sluicing through a narrow channel between quiet pools reflecting the surrounding mountains. Edition size: 39 small; 24 large; artist: Laurie Larwood.

Watering Hole ►
Watering Hole©. Someone has been treating these horses well. But they don’t bear any brands, and they are here in the desert seemingly by themselves—no fences and no restraints--free. They are coming up to you now out of curiosity. Call them to you softly. Edition size: 49 small; 49 large; artist: Laurie Larwood.
Water Spirit© features a Cooper’s hawk enjoying a lazy bath in a small stream in Arizona’s Cienega Creek Preserve. Like any fine actor, Cooper begins by being sure that he is being appreciated. Then he washes his tail feathers, followed by his wings. Then he stretches out to be sure that he has washed all of his feathers properly. And finally, he struts forward to take his bow. Edition size: 29 small (24" wide-not matted; larger sizes by request); artist: Sherry Shamroth.

Where are the Fish? ▲
Where Are the Fish?©. Take an old water basin. Shoot a few holes through it, but be sure there is can still hold some water. Leave it out for awhile on a hot day before you come back to check. For sure a raccoon will have found the basin and be enjoying a cooling plunge in it. Or maybe he is merely inspecting for a few fish. Edition size: 39 small; 19 large; artist: Sherry Shamroth.
