5-1 - At the Water's Edge
Much as we love the deserts and the mountains, we also feel irresistibly attracted to water. The water's edge is exciting, producing an ever-changing discontinuity between textures and forms. Lighting changes as we near water, and the reflections, sounds, and rhythmic crashing of waves all blend into subconscious pleasure. In this gallery we pay tribute to the excitement, pleasure and romance of the water's edge. It suggests something eternal in our nature, and yet evokes immediate pleasure. You will find most ocean, lake and river scenes here. In every case, the scenes are real, very real, and it is the art of digitography that has brought them alive. Be sure and check our other galleries as well; they overlap a little.
For your convenience, we've placed only a few images on each page of this gallery. When you are ready, go to page 2 in this Gallery, or use the tags at the top to view other galleries on our site and place your order.

◄ Arizona Conga Line
Arizona Conga Line©. Tucson’s Agua Caliente Park is fed by a mountain stream coming from the heights of the Rincon Mountains. Surely it can’t host a warm lake with Arizona palms and year-around wildlife? Here the red-eared sliders are lined up to enjoy the sunny day. Edition size: 29 small; 29 large; artist: Sherry Shamroth.

Catalinas in Monsoon Fog ▲
Catalinas in Monsoon Fog© shows the Santa Catalina Mountains in full “sky island” splendor. The sky islands are a group of southern Arizona mountain chains that are high enough to create their own weather. Climate zones range from desert to northern pine forests, with matching animal life scurrying through every inch. Edition size: 39 small; 39 large (not matted); artist: Laurie Larwood.

◄ Forest Stream in Fall
Forest Stream in Fall© is a little stream in the southern part of Arizona’s Galiuro Mountains. This area is protected by the Nature Conservancy as one of the world’s most lovely (but vanishing) habitats. Look closely and imagine the many wonderful varieties of animal and plant life. Edition size: 39 small (24" high-not matted; larger sizes by request); artist: Laurie Larwood.
Lakefront Arizona©. Here is where the Salt River meets the Roosevelt Lake dam along the Apache trail just north of the Superstition Mountains. The saguaros are grateful for the year-round added humidity as well as the lake’s temperature modulation. If this is desert, it is a friendly one. Edition size: 24 small; 34 large; artist: Sherry Shamroth.

Sabino ▲
Sabino© is a canyon cutting through some of the most rugged parts of Arizona’s Santa Catalina Mountains. At times, the little stream flowing lazily through the canyon swells into a massive river. But between monsoons, the stream nourishes a riot of plant and wildlife. This would be a good time for your hike up the wonderful canyon. Edition size: 39 small; 35 large; artist: Laurie Larwood.
San Pedro Reflection©. The San Pedro River glides north from Mexico through Southern Arizona in rare riparian splendor. Here, the cottonwoods on either side of the river are dressed in fall colors. They frame a lone duck paddling lazily out to enjoy the scene. Edition size: 39 small; 39 large; artist: Sherry Shamroth.
