Gallery 4-2 - Flowers and Plants

Our digitographers  look for beauty in some unusual places, and the high resolution digital camera is an ideal way to capture it.  Flowers and plants hold a special mystery, however.  We think we know them.  But the closer we look, the more delicate and wonderful they become.  The work of the digital artist is able to emphasize that intimate relationship in wondrous ways.  Be sure and check our other galleries; they overlap a little.

For your convenience, we've placed only a few images on each page of this gallery.  When you are ready, go to  page 1, or 3 in this gallery, or use the tags at the top to view other galleries on our site and place your order.

Forest Splendor

Forest Splendor© is a scene atop Tucson’s Catalina Mountains early one spring.  The woodlands are just shaking off the winter’s snow.  Meanwhile, protected by a weathered snag and in the warmth of its reflected sunlight, a single poppy has begun an early bloom.  We stopped by here for awhile and soon found that a single bee had also discovered the poppy.  Edition size:  39 small; 24 large; artist:  Laurie Larwood.

                           Meditation

Meditation© depicts a scene just outside the windows of our studio.  We’ve done something a little different with the bird, using an engraving technique.  Our purpose is to highlight instead the delicate flower, the object of the bird’s affections.  The bird is on the branch…barely moving…with one eye on the flower.  This may be a philosophical moment; or there may be a bug somewhere on the flower. Edition size:  29 small; 15 large; artist:  Laurie Larwood.

Night Blooms

Night Blooms©.  Deep in a botanical garden near here is a single unnamed flower that blooms best in the twilight of a thick green canopy.  The flower has a name, but we don’t know it.  There, by itself, we just couldn’t resist this striking, brilliantly-colored orphan.  Edition size:  39 small; 24 large; artist:  Laurie Larwood.
