1-3 - Scenes in the Southwest
In many of these scenes the animals and trees call out to us in a way that seems as timeless as the terrain they inhabit. Others speak of the rich and mixed cultural heritage of the Southwest--Native, Hispanic and American. In every case, the scenes are real, very real, and it is the art of digitography that has brought them alive. Be sure and check our other galleries; they overlap a little.
If you are from the Tucson area or just love this special place, we have a special page for you--Old Tucson Only.
For your convenience, we've placed only a few images on each page of this gallery. When you are ready, go back to pages 1, 2, or go to Old Tucson Only in this Gallery, or use the tags at the top to view other galleries on our site and place your order.
Remembering Home ►
Remembering Home© floats like a mirage among the other apartments and houses of Taxco, a city high in the mountains of central Mexico. Here, the outdoor wash line and partial walls speak to a more difficult time that has passed for many of us. But the patio plants remind us of fond memories. Edition size: 39 small; 15 large; artist: Laurie Larwood.
◄ Resting Up
Resting Up©. Two desert bighorn sheep seem to be resting awhile on their continuing search for the right salad for lunch. Rarely seen and incredibly shy, they generally stay at the higher and rougher levels of the mountains in southern and central Arizona where this picture was taken. Edition size: 39 small; 29 large; artist: Laurie Larwood.

Taking a Break ►
Taking a Break©. This little humming bird is caught in the unusual position of resting between flights. Perhaps he was daydreaming for a moment about the nectar in some distant flower. Apparently they do hold still, but not for long. In another instant, he was gone to check on his nearby clutch of eggs. Edition size: 39 small; 17 large; artist: Laurie Larwood.

Time to Leave ►
Time to Leave©. Here is a little stream trickling gently between Arizona’s Santa Catalina and Rincon mountains. Generally, this is one of the places you want to linger on a warm day—put your feet in the water and relax in the sand. But today, it is time to leave before the cat gets a little too close. Careful; here she comes! Edition size: 49 small; 29 large; artist: Laurie Larwood.

◄ Toward Twilight
Toward Twilight© a coyote wanders stealthily down the Rincon Mountains in search of a morsel or two. He stands now, before a little rock outcrop in Arizona’s Saguaro National Park East. The sun is beginning to drop, and the air is becoming cooler. He waits. Edition size: 49 small; 35 large; artist: Sherry Shamroth.

▲Uh, oh!
Uh, oh!© What’s a western cottontail to do when it sees some unwelcome dinner guests? In this case, the bunny seems to be evading its responsibility to assist the guests; unlike jack rabbits that run from predators, cottontails are more likely to freeze and hope they aren’t recognized. In this case, the bunny lived happily forever after…or at least for as long as we watched. Edition size: 49 small; 24 large; artist: Laurie Larwood.

Wild Thing ►
Wild Thing©. A long rocky road winds down the back side of the Santa Catalina Mountains. The countryside is rocky and untamed, and along the way are occasional javelina and mountain lions, along with numerous hawks, jack rabbits and ground squirrels. Suddenly out of nowhere, and apparently all by itself, is a lone mustang. In another moment, he has disappeared. Edition size: 39 small; 29 large; artist: Laurie Larwood.
