Gallery 1-2 - Scenes in the Southwest

In many of these scenes the animals and trees call out to us in a way that seems as timeless as the terrain they inhabit.  Others speak of the rich and mixed cultural heritage of the Southwest--Native, Hispanic and American.  In every case, the scenes are real, very real, and it is the art of digitography that has brought them alive.  Be sure and check our other galleries; they overlap a little.

If you are from the Tucson area or just love this special place, we have a special page for you--Old Tucson Only.

For your convenience, we've placed only a few images on each page of this gallery.  When you are ready, go to pages 13 or  Old Tucson Only in this gallery, or use the tags at the top to view other galleries on our site and place your order.

Let's Play

Let’s Play© is a story about a bit of Sonoran Desert and cactus, a road runner, and a very fat lizard.  We assume that the road runner and the lizard are playing a game on this sunny afternoon.  Something like hide-and-go-seek, perhaps.  We couldn’t identify the variety of lizard, but we know he didn’t want to stay around long for questions.  Edition size:  39 small; 29 large; artist:  Sherry Shamroth.

Morning Snack

Morning Snack©.  Road runners have a busy day.  If they aren’t in a movie role, they have to fetch their own food.  This little guy has managed to find himself a small lizard that just wasn’t fast enough this morning. The road runner’s crest is still up, indicating how pleased he is at his early morning catch.    Edition size:  49 small; 35 large; artist:  Laurie Larwood.

On Patrol

On Patrol© finds two white-nosed burros wandering in the eastern segment of Saguaro National Park.  They look as though they are doing fine, scavenging the desert floor searching for a little grass, a little pool of water, and maybe a little petting by some friendly passer-by.  Edition size:  49 small; 24 large; artist:  Laurie Larwood.

                                  Peek-a-Boo

Peek-a-Boo© is a little brown juvenile cottontail.  She was just a few inches tall when we found her and probably was only a month old.  She wasn't sure whether she should run away or not, but she felt she was safe, hidden behind a branch to watch us.  Edition size:  39 small; 15 large; artist:  Laurie Larwood

Peeps

Peeps© shows two Gambel’s quail.  One of these is a chick not quite ready to branch out on its own.  Right now it seems to want the comfort and shelter of its wary parent.  We couldn’t get close enough to hear the conversation between them, but we’re sure it began and ended with just a “peep”.  Edition size:  39 small; 20 large; artist:  Laurie Larwood.
